seeking hospital stay advice...

I've never stayed overnight in a hospital before (as a patient, at least).  Doc says probably only 1 night, 2 nights max.  I have a packing list, but would welcome any advice from those with experience.  Did I forget anything?  Am I taking too much?

  • Advanced Directive/Medical Power of Attorney
  • ID
  • Insurance Card
  • bathrobe
  • brush
  • deodorant
  • Earplugs
  • Eyemask (for sleeping)
  • Eyeglasses
  • Headphones
  • Ipad (with books, movies & music)
  • Ipad charger
  • Lotion
  • Notepad & pen
  • Phone & charger
  • pillow & blanket (for car ride home)
  • shawl/bedjacket (my arms ALWAYS get cold...and for modesty)
  • slippers
  • facial cleanser wipes
  • Wisp (Colgate® Wisp® is a single-use mini toothbrush with a breath-freshening bead that allows you to have a clean, fresh mouth anywhere, anytime – no water or rinsing required)
  • underwear

Cheers!--and Thanks!

Maybe some chapstick. I am addicted to chapstick, so I take it every where. I caked it on right before I went into surgery...and my lips didn;t feel all dry and crackly when I woke up.

I echo the chap stick suggestion. And I like that you have the wisps on the list!!

If you like to have your own stuff for comfort, go for it!

Even though there are dispensers with hand sanitizer on the walls in almost every room, you might want to have a small bottle handy.

Good luck with the eye mask and earplugs.
It's almost impossible to sleep no matter what. If they need to check you for anything, they'll wake you up. :( If you have an IV, you'll probably need to get up and pee every 3 minutes anyway. :)
