accountability update...

I posted a couple of weeks ago about my accountability...and it's going pretty well.  I have successfully completed 95% of my accountability checklist items each week.  I have made (and mostly followed) a meal plan and have been rewarded with slight downward movement on the scale.  Considering that I'm expecting to be OTR by the end of the day, I'm pleased.

Considering getting a tee-tiny fill next week (maybe .25 or .5cc) as I did manage to get down a slice of deep dish pizza earlier this week.  Better than 3 slices of deep dish...but still not acceptable.

I'm starting to get really excited about Chicago.  Can't wait to see you all again!

Doc visit...no fill...

Had a follow-up with the doc today.  I decided not to schedule a fill, although he left the option open--said I just had to call and make the appointment if I change my mind.  We talked a bit about my progress and the fact that I am "behind schedule."  Although some of it stems from my sucky 1st doctor, I really think that I have to accept part of the blame myself.  I just really haven't had my head in the game 100% lately.

My food choices are mostly good.  My portions are mostly good.  But, I've been eating around the band quite frequently--grazing on a bite or two continuously throughout the day.  It's "good" stuff--no chips or cookies or anything.  But, even "good" stuff will add up if there is enough of it.

That said, I'm still feeling better about myself most days.  I may not be where I want to end up, but I am certainly better off than I was this time last year!

Cheers!

accountability...

My housekeeping routines are really working out well...I have even printed and laminated checklists for Daily, Weekly & Monthly "chores."  So far, I'm right on track!  My exercise routines...well, they're not exactly routines yet.  I have not done the Jillian Michaels as promised.  But, I have been moving more and even hopped on my treadmill a couple of days ago.  Murphy (my Welsh Terrier) and I have been taking morning walks down to the lake (about 1.5 miles round trip).  I've been really focusing on my eating...protein first, 1 cup or less 3x/day, plenty of water, etc.

Unfortunately, the weight (and measurements) is still going UP!  What's a girl to do?

re-focus & re-motivate...

Taking a page from Maria's book, today I am re-focusing and re-motivating myself.  I kind of let myself get into a downward spiral after my much needed un-fill a few weeks ago.  After weeks of being unable to eat or drink and being generally uncomfortable, I was so relieved after the un-fill that I went a little overboard...and I ate EVERYTHING!  Then, I was dealing with PMS.  After that it was OTR.  And now I'm feeling a bit SOL. (sorry...got a little carried away there).  Of course, the 1-2 (or even 8) lb gain was not temporary so I decided to do what any intelligent person would do.  I avoided the scale and comforted my bruised ego with food. Ginger snaps, swiss cake rolls, chocolate chip cookies, potato chips.  Well, you get the picture.

Four weeks ago I was feeling great about myself and my scale was flirting with the 100's.  Today, I just feel fat & puffy and want to hide under in my husband's XL men's t-shirts.

So, what am I going to do about it?  I went to the Border's going-out-of-business sale yesterday and got two Jillian Michaels dvd's (Beginners Frontside & Beginners Backside).

  1. I will start by doing each dvd no less that 1x/ week--working up to 6 days/week exercise.
  2. I will resume my previous habit of making a weekly menu plan.
  3. I will have my morning protein smoothie every day before 10am. (I've been skipping breakfast and then getting hungry and eating a butt-load of crap around 11am)
  4. I will drink 64+ oz. water every day.
  5. I will resume my morning cleaning routine (empty dishwasher, pack lunch for Hubs, swish & swipe bathrooms, make the bed, do 1 load laundry)
  6. I will resume my evening before bed routine (load & run dishwasher, sweep kitchen, clean sink, brush teeth, wash face)
The cleaning routines just help me feel "in-control" and, when I feel in control, I am less likely to sabotage my eating plan.

Thanks, Maria, for the inspiration!

Cheers!

working my way out of "the funk"...

I'm feeling a bit better today--both physically and mentally.  Yesterday was a disaster!  I totally wallowed in chocolate & junk!  Thank goodness the band keeps me in check, somewhat.  There's no telling what I might have eaten otherwise.

The Hubs is on a business trip, so I skipped cooking dinner and went to bed early.  I woke up this morning refreshed--and a bit relieved to find nothing on my "to do" calendar!  So, I plan to do a bit of straightening & organizing--this will help me get back my feeling of control.

Tomorrow is my first 10am exercise class--Yogalates.  I'm looking forward to it.

PS  "The Crying Time" (TCT)/OTR/TOM or whatever you call it came yesterday.  Cramps galore!--but I'm hoping the weight gain of last week will prove to be temporary.  My boobs (the real ones, not my friends from Chicago) already feel smaller!!! (of course, the boobs from Chicago are probably smaller, too!;)
