still on liquids...

...and doing just fine.  My doc likes for me to stay on liquids for 48 hours after a fill (I think this is fairly standard).  So far, I've been doing & feeling alright.  Very little hunger and everything goes down as it should--even pills!  Since my band is so sensitive to fills, I plan to do a couple of days of mushies before graduating on to solid food.  The Hubs is out of town at the end of the week, so it will make it easier for me not to nibble on things I'm making for him.

I feel good about this one.  But, I won't really know until tomorrow or Friday (in the past, the swelling sets in around the 3rd day after a fill).

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

doc says all is good w/ my band!!!

Saw my doc yesterday...x-rays look fine!  He put back in 3cc (took out 4cc on Jan. 1).  I will see him again in 6 weeks.  I'm feeling good, but scared to get on the scale.  The last few days have been atrocious in the eating department!  I think I'll just wait until next week when I've been eating (and drinking) properly again.

apparently embedded comments are the devil...

Check out this helpful post from Stephanie (by way of Lap Band Gal).  I just fixed mine, so y'all should be able to comment again.  Thanks, Draz, for the heads-up!

re-fill on monday...

I am SO READY to get some fill in this little old band o' mine.  My pants are getting tighter (probably has something to do with the bag of Cheetos I ate the other day...just because I could) and my face feels puffy.  I think I've had a case of the "Last Meal Syndrome" that I had just prior to surgery.  You know,  eating anything and everything possible in un-godly portions because this might be my last chance to ever eat something like that again.

The funny thing is that I haven't really enjoyed most of it (except for the birthday hamburger which was HEAVEN!)  I've discovered that I don't really miss bread much.  I've eaten a couple of sandwiches and while I enjoyed the convenience, I could have done without the bread.  Same for the crust on the pizza we ordered last week. I have found myself craving "band-ster" food the last few days.  I miss my band!

Also interesting...since I've been eating crap I've also noticed a significant dip in my energy level and even had to lie down for a nap twice this week.  I haven't needed a nap in over a year!

The good news is that I just got the call from the doc's office and I have a fill scheduled for Monday afternoon.

happy weekend!

order [ˈɔːdə]

order [ˈɔːdə]
noun
1. a state in which all components or elements are arranged logically, comprehensibly, or naturally  2. a peaceful or harmonious condition…
verb
1. (to arrange, regulate, or dispose (articles) in their proper places
adjective  "in order"
1.  in sequence  2.  properly arranged  3.  appropriate or fitting
I have thought extensively about my Word of the Year for 2012 and have been struggling to choose between"order" and "flexibility."
flex·i·ble   [ˈflɛksɪbəl]
adjective
1.  Responsive to change; adaptable
While they initially seemed to me to be mutually exclusive, I eventually realized that one actually lends itself to the other. If I have order in all aspects of my life (mind, health, home, etc) then I will have the ability to be flexible without throwing my life into chaos.

I've had much deeper thoughts on the subject, but this is all I can get on paper at the moment.  Perhaps I should start working on ordering my mind first...

Cheers!

un-fill update...

Huge thanks to everyone for your good thoughts and well wishes!  I am feeling better today--no more pain; no more heartburn; no more sliming; no more vomiting.  I have been drinking LOTS of water since Sunday night and think I am finally fully hydrated again.

Oddly, even with a "complete" unfill, I am not overly hungry.  Liquids all day Monday (per Doctors orders) was no problem and yesterday I had only a 1/4 cup pimento cheese on 3 crackers and a handful of BBQ potato chips (not the best choice, I know).  I don't want to force myself to eat if I'm not hungry, so I've just been drinking my Slim-Fast shakes and making sure to get in lots of water & hot tea.

I do still feel a little under the weather in general, but I attribute that more to the fact that I had 30 people at my house Fri-Mon and I may have pushed myself a bit too far with the preparations.  I spent most of yesterday in bed but am up and dressed today--getting ready to restore some order to the house starting with laundry.

Oh, and before I forget...

Happy Birthday,

Stephanie!!!

what a way to start the New Year...

You know how I've had unexplained tightness for the last few weeks.  Well, on Friday things just slammed shut.  I was still able to drink water and we had a houseful of guests, so I figured I would go to the Doc on Monday (today).  Things got progressively worse over the weekend and by last night I was no longer able to even drink water and was having signs of dehydration.  I was also experiencing pain.  I called the doc office and found out that they were closed on Monday.  So, I asked to speak to the doc on-call...it turned out to by MY doc who at first told me to go to the ER, but then offered to meet me at his office once he found out I was only 15 minutes away.  (How awesome is it that my doc met me at his office at 9:30 PM on a holiday!!!)

So, we went there and he took out 2cc, but I was still having trouble getting water down.  He took out more several times and finally got to the end...it was only 4cc.  Anyway, I have an appointment with him already for a couple of weeks from now and will ask him about it then.  I was so worked up last night that I didn't have the presence of mind to ask him about the amount.

He is somewhat concerned about slippage and will probably take an X-ray when I see him next.  He told me that if I have any trouble and don't improve significantly (for last night and today) then I should call him again and go to the ER for an immediate X-ray.  He said that the swelling might last for a day or two considering it was so sever and I am on liquids for the rest of today.  We are unable to pinpoint the trigger for this episode...

So, I'm better now...last night I got in 18 oz of water and a slim fast before bed and this morning am having no trouble with drinking.  My band area is still a bit sore, but that is to be expected.

Pleased keep your fingers crossed for me that this doesn't turn out to be anything too serious.
