I'm thinking about this for dinner.
I have been reading Eating Well magazine pretty regularly for a little over a year. It is one of my favorites! I have cooked numerous recipes and most have been stellar. Plus, they have a great website. I also keep a current subscription to Clean Eating (not such a great website, though).
These are not "diet" magazines. Rather, they focus on whole foods--organic, sustainable, & real. You won't find a lot of chemical substitutes in these recipes--butter, not margarine; brown rice, not white; full fat cheese & milk, etc. The theory is that if you use "whole" products, the flavor is richer and therefore you wind up using less. I can testify that 1 oz full-fat mozzarella sprinkled over a burger gives me much more satisfaction that 1/4 cup of the low-fat kind.

This ties into my new philosophy on eating--I want to eat as close to the source as possible. Since I won't be able to eat much in the way of quantity, the quality matters that much more. No more processed, chemical laden foods for me!

Along those lines, I also just signed up for a subscription to Natural Home magazine. The latest issue has a recipe for laundry detergent that I can't wait to try.

I only eat butter, full fat cheeses, real cream in my coffee and no SF foods. I love that I've lost 62.4 in 4.5 months eating like that!
I love clean eating magazine. Love. It.
that looks soooo delicious! if you make it, please post later and tell us about it!
I have tended towards the clean living ways as well but not exclusively. I have banned the low-fat, diet stuff that is really hiding more sugar or the low sugar stuff that is really hiding more fat and I aim for the best food bang for my buck..garden fresh, free-range, farmers-market kind of food with a little processes fun when the mood strikes :)
Very cool that you will be in Portland in a couple of weeks. My email is tina@deadhat.com so drop me an email and we can arrange coffee or drinks or something. We have a really great food scene up here. Are you coming for work or pleasure?
Tina
Dinner got sidetracked by a sick husband. I will definitely make it soon, though, and post the results.
