thoughts on my 1st fill...

It's been 2 days since my first fill.  I've read a lot about how it can sometimes take a new fill a while to "settle in" so I decided to give it a few days before passing judgement.  I'm still not sure if mine has settled, yet.  But, here are my observations so far:

  • Overall, I don't think it's made a huge difference.
  • I do notice that I have been eating smaller quantities.
  • I also notice that I am eating these smaller quantities more often.

My conclusion is that this fill has resulted in restricting the amount of food that I can eat at any given time, but it is not sticking with me.  I seem to be hungry again within 1-2 hours of eating.  I've read others who have mentioned that it sometimes takes a full week for their fills to kick in.  Perhaps this is the case?  Or, maybe it will just take a couple more tries to really get it going.  It *is* only my first fill, after all.

Cheers!

Don't worry too much it is to be expected early on in the fill process. I have occasionally had a fill take two weeks to kick in so try and be patient.

Your first fill is just a jumping off point, you will get more restriction with each fill you get... It does take a while to adjust and feel the full restriction. I had my second fill 2 days ago and I feel like a pea is too big to fit... I hope it gets better tomorrow. I am a new follower, I was banded March 23rd, 2010. *Maria*-Blogger from "This one time at BAND Camp..." Check out my blog at mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com

I agree with the others - while you may notice some small changes in your portion sizes/hunger level with the first fill, it's rare that the first fill actually "does it" for you. Just keep truckin' on - it's normal to start eating less, but still being hungry, at this stage of the game :)

I didn't notice much of anything with my first fill, so don't be discouraged if you don't either. Just keep practicing all the band rules and get your next fill when it's time, you will feel restriction eventually!

I am in EXACTLY the same place. I had my first fill on July 16th and it was a big one. I have not lost anything at all. I can only eat about a cup of food at a time, but I am hungry 2 hours later.

I saw my nutritionist on Monday and we talked about this. She said that as long as I am eating what I am supposed to and not overdoing the amounts, there isn't much else I can do other than hang in for more fills. #2 is scheduled for September 2nd, and I'm hoping it helps.

I know it isn't much comfort, but at least you're not alone. :)

Don't have a fill yet, but based on what I've read on many blogs, I'm not expecting much. I'm trying to look at each fill as building blocks to get me to the restriction I need.
