I promised myself that I would not get stressed out over this whole pre-certification waiting period. I promised that I was just going to sit back and let the process take care of itself. I was going to be "relaxed" and "calm." I don't know who I thought I was kidding.
I just called Aetna and spoke to Colleen (who was great, btw). I explained that my doctor's office had sent the documents on Thursday. I told her that I knew they had not had time to process everything, but that I just wanted to confirm that they had received the documents and that everything was in order, etc. She looked, and looked, and put me on hold to check with her supervisor (because if they were sent on Thursday they should be in the system), and then looked some more. Nope...no documents anywhere.
Now I'm waiting to hear from my doctor's office so that I can find out if the documents were faxed or mailed. So much for taking it easy...
In other news, I've had a headache for 2 days and nothing seems to help. I am also fighting off nausea (it comes and goes). Is this what a migraine is all about? I'm still functional for short periods of time. But, a dark room does make things better. I always thought migraines put you 100% out of commission. Not so with this one. But I don't know how else to explain the nausea. Any ideas?

For starters - sounds like a migraine. Watch out, too - if you keep trying to function instead of relaxing, closing drapes, turning off tv, not staring at a computer, etc - it will take off from here. If you have any anti-migraine meds, take now. Otherwise get thee some Excedrine and try to beat it back with a stick. It won't get better...from my experience...until you take care of it. Sorry. :)
And please don't beat yourself up about the Aetna thing. Yes, insurance can certainly be migraine-inducing. You read my blog - you know how I was bouncing off the walls and just massively insane. I think it will get to the best of us (and I'm certainly not in that category to start with!). Hang in there. You will get an answer and it will happen. I've heard a lot of good things about Aetna so I'm hoping that they get the paperwork soon and then Aetna can do their thing. I sure hope the doc's office calls back soon. Ugh, what torture! I'm so sorry you are having to endure this - I don't wish it on anyone!
Hang in there. And gripe away! Please. It really helped me as I was trying to get through it because, in my experience, everyone understands. We are here for you!!!
My paperwork will be submitted next week. I will be in the same boat. I have Blue Cross/ Blue Shield. I have my fingers crossed for you.
Keeping fingers crossed for you as well...
Fingers crossed that all the paperwork goes in. Take heart that you are a star now that you have been quoted and referenced (by me!). I couldn't believe it when I read it in a comment you made in Amy's? blog-it is exactly me.
I used to just get dizzy with a migraine. Everyone is different. Hope it gets better soon.
This same thing happened to me and I called my doctors office saying that the insurance company (it was Aetna too) said they didn't have the paperwork yet even though they said they had sent it. She told me, "even if they say they don't have it, they do! I promise!" And they did. It just takes a few days for it to trickle down to the person that inputs in into the system. Good luck and hang in there.
I feel your pain! I had the exact same thing happen. Turns out, my insurance uses a 3rd party to do the approvals. I thought mine had been submitted for a month...it had only been there for 1 day! Bonus...they fast tracked it and I got my approval 1 week later!
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Hey Miss Froggy!--glad you're still around. Did you get your surgery? I haven't seen updates in a while.
I know...I just posted a note about being out of the loop.
Thanks for still thinking of me!
I did have the surgery...the 31st of March. I'm writing loads of updates now!
